Classic Elegance: Florals for Jessica and Tanner’s Wedding at the Old Medical College

Classic Elegance: Florals for Jessica and Tanner’s Wedding at the Old Medical College

Ever meet someone and think, “God, I hope my girls turn out like her?” That’s exactly how I feel about Jessica.

Five years ago, she joined my husband’s office fresh out of college as their first hire—and the first woman in an office full of men. She was exactly what they needed. Jessica is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, with a heart for hard work, an organized spirit, and a deep love for Christ. She’s a devoted daughter, a Swiftie, an animal lover—truly, all the best qualities wrapped up in one person. What a gift she is!

A few years after she started working for my husband, I watched her love story unfold.

She reconnected with her high school boyfriend, Tanner, and a new flame was lit. Soon after, Tanner put a ring on it. My husband likes to joke that Jessica had been planning her wedding since childhood, and honestly, she nailed it. She knew exactly what she wanted, and I was thrilled to help her bring her vision to life with flowers.

On October 21, 2023, we had the honor of designing the floral arrangements for Jessica and Tanner Barfield’s wedding at the historic Old Medical College. The setting was timeless, and Jessica’s vision of an elegant, neutral color palette with white flowers and lush greenery perfectly complemented the venue’s classic charm. Even when a train barreled through downtown Augusta in the middle of the ceremony, it couldn’t overshadow the beauty and love that filled the day. It was perfection.

One of the standout features was the floral arch at the entrance of the aisle. We used white roses, hydrangeas, and eucalyptus to create a lush, romantic display. After the ceremony, the arch was repurposed as the backdrop for Jessica and Tanner’s first dance, adding a magical touch to the evening. As Jessica said, “The floral arrangements exceeded all my expectations. The way the arch framed our first dance made the moment even more magical.”

To make a statement during their vows, we designed four stunning columns with large arrangements of white garden roses, hydrangeas, ruscus, eucalyptus, and more. The elegant simplicity of the white and green palette allowed the couple’s love to shine even brighter.

One of my personal favorite elements in every wedding is the bridal bouquet. When we create the bouquet, we take a moment to pray for the bride and groom. We thank God for the privilege of being a part of their special day. We pray that their marriage stays rooted in Him as they embark on their journey together.

The Old Medical College provided a picturesque backdrop for their day, and our floral arrangements added the elegant, natural touch Jessica envisioned. It was a true honor to play a small role in celebrating the love between Jessica and Tanner Barfield.
